Electronic Campfire Issue One

Greetings Adventurers,

Apologies first off for the unsolicited email - hopefully it doesn't qualify as 'junk' (just!).

The purpose of this email is to start the ball rolling towards a gathering of all resources related to Monster Island UK (read Europe). Hopefully, with the opening of the Zargnoth region, interest will pick up and all those veteran monsters who've been taking a long vacation at their local Far Inn will finally check out and start exploring again.

This isn't meant to replace anything that's already out there, I saw that there were an increasing number of people providing information on MI and this is an attempt to provide a periodic newsletter containing information and a list of electronic resources for Monster Island UK. E-Monster (if it's still running) is/was a high quality source of information and gossip and I have no intention of trying to repeat it's achievements - if it has died then we'll see...

Firstly, I'd like to recognise the existing MI resources that are out there. My current list is pitifully small (please help to change this!). Your addresses came from Usenet postings and MIAB listings. Some of you are group leaders - if you've got members on the 'net then please let me know their addresses so that this list may grow and become more complete.

Right, here we go with the (hopefully) far from definitive list of Monster Island (mostly UK) resources:

  • Rasmus Jensen's WWW Page at http://www.cybercity.dk/users/ccc2934/
  • Usenet newsgroup rec.games.pbm (tentative but you get the odd MI post)
  • The MI Homepage at http://www.compulink.co.uk/~erebus/mi_top.html (recommended)
  • E-Monster (this address is *old* so no guarantees) contact: warden@rt66.com
  • CompuServe Forum: PBMGAMES
  • Aaron Fuegi's WWW Page for Monster Island (very US but included as a good source).

Apologies to anyone not on the above - mail me!

Well, there it is. As I stated I've lost touch with the US newsletter E-Monster, any news as to it's whereabouts and an email address if possible would be appreciated.

I'll update in about a month if the consensus is that it would be worthwhile,

Regards,

Greg
