Not catching something to eat every other mile? Well, you can do two things: Move out of the lousy hunting terrain you're in, or get better hunting tools. A Club just isn't the best thing to hunt with. Sure, a Knife would help. So would a Sling/ But there's something very obvious that throughout history has been the essential hunting tool. Once you have it, you should be able to keep yourself well fed most of the time.
